Community Outreach
We are committed to reaching out into the community in which we live, spreading the Gospel in both word and deed.
We support these local agencies, colleges, and camps:
- A.C.C.E.S.S (All County Churches Emergency Support System)
- Family Network of Wyoming Food Pantrie, and UCOM
- Reformed Church World Service
- ACTION ( Assisting Challenged Teenagers In Our Neighborhood)
- The Bible League
- Gideons
- GEMS & CADETS
- Degage' Ministries
- Mel Trotter Ministry
- The Other Way Ministry
- Jubilee Housing
- Youth for Christ
- Marketplace Ministry
- Western Seminary
- Hope College
- Camp Geneva - Holland Michigan
- Cran Hill Ranch, including Camp Rainbow - Rodney, Michigan
We reach out to our neighborhood in many ways throughout the year:
- Club 3:16 - This is a drop-in program for youth of the neighborhood, which takes place at The Crossing", our Youth Building
- Vacation Bible School - Children ages pre-school through 5th grade are invited to come to VBS for a week during the summer. Children have the opportunity to escape into a totally new setting to learn Bible stories, play games, make crafts, & enjoy snacks.
- County Wide Food Drive - Our church hosts the annual food drive for ACCESS. Many volunteers pick up food items and sort the food, thus supplying the neighboring pantries.
- Buddy Tutoring Program - Volunteers from Grace spend time with Gladiola Elementary School students, helping them with school work and being a special friend.
- Habitat for Humanity & Westown Jubilee Housing - Persons from Grace take part in work projects for these agencies, building homes for low income families.
- Holiday Assistance:
- 1. Grace has adopted families for the holidays, assisting them with food and gifts for their children.
- 2. Grace hosts the 'Wyoming Christmas Store' for low income families of the area. Persons from Family Network of Wyoming Food Pantry, UCOM Volunteers, and members of participating churches who are struggling financially can apply to shop at the store. Area churches donate gifts for the store & approved clients are allowed to purchase gifts for their children for 1/4 of the retail cost. (example: a $20 gift will cost $5) Clients who cannot afford this reduced cost are encouraged to attend classes at FNOW to earn credit in the store.
- 3. "Being the Hands" A Christmas Store is set up at DeVos Children's Hospital (one day event) where the children who are in the hospital during the holidays can select a gift for their parents and siblings.
- FOOD DRIVES - A couple times a year Grace has a food collection for our local food pantries.
